Songs Rhino loves, #117: Kidnap - “Thin Lines” (ft. Lotti)

A relatively subtle but undeniably groovy dance track.

Kidnap, formerly Kidnap Kid, is the stage name of the British dance producer Matthew Rupert Lancaster Relton, who was born in 1991 and released this song in 2013. I think it’s a real accomplishment – smooth, assured, evocative, atmospheric, with a propulsive backbeat and a stellar guest vocal performance by Lotti, about whom I know nothing but an album by whom I would eagerly listen to. It sorta makes me feel like I’m dancing in Paris, or at least Montréal, and I regularly return to its unshowy and compulsively re-listenable groove. I hope y’all dig it too!
