I had the good fortune to see The Limey as an 11-year-old boy in 1999, and one could hardly begin to imagine a stately and imperious screen presence like unto that of Terence Stamp. He was a remarkably agile and nimble performer, and was often good in comedies, on top of which there have been several lovely stories pouring in of his lifelong friendship with the queer community, as well as his crackerjack chemistry with the great Luis Guzmán. But I remember him best for his startling intensity, and I never forgot him for even a moment in 26 years. What a remarkable, powerful person he was.
I am absolutely delighted envisioning the joyous reception he will be receiving from the likes of John Hurt, Alan Rickman, Ian Holm, Tom Wilkinson, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Natasha Richardson, Max von Sydow, Michael Gambon, Katrin Cartlidge, Alan Bates, Ian Bannen, and a host of other legends now that he has joined them in the Abhá Kingdom. Ave atque vale, and may the realm of the Spirit receive him with open arms and a chorus of angels.
