I’m pissed the fuck off that the great and wonderful Maggie Smith only made it to 89. She had lived a long and rich life filled with incredible performances and delightful personal behavior, but she seemed to me to be the most likely of our great thespians to make it to 127, with the possible exception of the equally wonderful and delightful Judi Dench.
Also, can we campaign for Eileen Atkins to get an honourary Oscar before we lose her to the realm of the Spirit as well? They let Alan Rickman, Jean-Louis Trintignant, James Gandolfini, Dennis Farina, Katrin Cartlidge, Toshiro Mifune, Ray Liotta, and Jeanne Moreau leave us without acknowledgment, and the fools steadfastly refuse to nominate Steve Buscemi, Brian Cox, Timothy Spall, Hope Davis, Shirley Henderson, Gina McKee, Paul Bettany, Emily Mortimer, Mathieu Amalric, Lois Smith, Anthony LaPaglia, Robert Wisdom, Ann Dowd, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, David Oyelowo, Joe Pantoliano, Campbell Scott, David Thewlis, Stellan Skarsgård, Ving Rhames, Koji Yakusho, Steve Zahn, John Goodman, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Rade Šerbedžija, Keith David, Luis Guzmán, John Turturro, Issey Ogata, Emilio Echevarría, Chow Yun-Fat, Daniel Auteuil, Maggie Cheung, Clarke Peters, Tony Shalhoub, Hanna Schygulla, Virginie Ledoyen, David Morse, or Delroy Lindo (among others) or to finally let Willem Dafoe win, but can we at least have this?
